A 22-year-old nurse was subjected to harassment and physical assault by an ambulance driver at a private hospital in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, according to police reports on Saturday.

Authorities have registered a case against the suspect, identified as Rohit, also known as Mohit, who is currently at large.

The incident occurred on June 5 when the nurse was on a call, and Rohit approached her, initiating unwanted advances. When she resisted, he violently pulled her hair, struck her, and forcefully threw her to the ground, as detailed by Kotwali SHO Sachidanand Pandey.

In addition to the physical assault, the accused reportedly harassed her further by inappropriately reaching into her clothing.

Upon hearing her cries for help, hospital staff, including doctors, rushed to her aid, confronting Rohit and forcing him to leave the premises.

Rohit regularly visits the hospital with patients, and police are currently working to apprehend him.

Charges have been filed against him under various sections including 76 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to disrobe), 352 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace), and 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt).

Police sources indicate that both the nurse and Rohit are members of the Dalit community.
